"Beautiful Castle 5 Minutes from the Beach"
The Castello di Marano is really an incredible location to spend an
Italian holiday. The property is incredibly beautiful and rich in
culture and tradition. This is a real castle, and has been in the
family for many years. The family have lovingly restored the home
over time and have opened it up to visitors and holiday renters.
The Castello is a beautiful ancient castle, situated high above
Cupra Marittima, on the Adriatic Coast. It is a romantic and
peaceful location for honeymooners or families wishing to enjoy the
tranquility of the rich Marches landscape and be close to the sea.
Cupra Marittima is in the southern most province of Ascoli Piceno
and unlike its Tuscan and Umbrian neighbors, remains unsploit. It in
a great location and is only 2 and 1/2 hours from Rome, and 2 and
1/2 hours from Florence.
The buildings are ancient and historic lending the Castello to be a
very romantic honeymoon vacation spot. There is a quiet suite which
contains a living room with a cozy fireplace, table and chairs, all
separate from the dining area where you can be served privately, by
your own catered "servant". You will be catered to as if you were
royalty, or you will be left alone, as you wish.
In addition, families with children would enjoy the idea of staying
in a "castle", high above the sea, with breathtaking views of the
nearby beach. One could roam the beautiful fruit garden, explore the
historic surroundings, and spend days swimming in the gentle waters
of the Adriatic.
The Castello di Marano’s history dates back many centuries. The
original Castello was built upon the old site of Cupra which was
destroyed by the Moors in the 8thCentury and much of the present
buildings date from the 14th and 15th Centuries, the Palazzo di
Francesco Sforza among them.
The Castello grounds also contain many other ancient buildings
including a church, Chiesa di Santa Maria dating from the
13thCentury, still in use today for special occasions and Weddings.
In fact the main house and gardens are today used for a variety of
purposes and can be hired for Corporate Functions, Children’s
Parties and functions such as Weddings and Birthday Parties may be
held here.
There are also substantial gardens surrounding the Castello and
guests staying in the Apartments and houses have free use of them
all year round. Views from the walled gardens down across Olive
groves to the sea are spectacular and one can only really appreciate
the beauty of the Castello di Marano by visiting and staying as a
guest in one of the Apartments or Houses that make up the Estate.
The Castello di Marano is within easy reach of the beach at
Cupramarittima, being less than a kilometre by foot and two
kilometres by car. The beach has the usual array of sun beds and
brightly coloured umbrellas found in Italian beach resorts and also
available for hire are Beach huts from the local Hotels.
The staff are incredible and the meals, for an added fee, are all
prepared in the traditional Italian cuisine. Accommodation at the
Castello di Marano consists of apartments and rooms within the main
Villa and two houses situated in the grounds. In the main Villa
there are three double rooms, each with their own bathroom and
lounge. Several have French doors which open directly onto terraces
and the gardens. There is also a small kitchen in each Apartment for
guests who wish to be more self contained.
The two houses which are beautifully restored can sleep up to 8
persons and include use of the extensive grounds all year round.
In all, there are 2 houses and one suite consisting of a total of 9
bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, living rooms with fireplaces, kitchens,
private parking, and full service if desired.
By Air
Cupra Marittima is approximately 70 kms south of Ancona Airport and
80kms north of Pescara Airport. Both these Airports are served by
the low cost budget airline Ryanair and flying time to both is
approximately 2 hours.
By road
Approaching from the North take the A14 Autostrada exit at Pedaso
and Cupra Marittima is 7kms south on the main SS16 Adriatica road.
On entering Cupra Marittima and after the traffic lights take the
second turning on the right just after the bridge, towards
Ripatransone. This leads uphill for 2 kms and at the top of the hill
bear to the left and follow the sign pointing to the local Museum.
You will find the Castello di Marano at he very top.
Approaching from the South take the A14 Autostrada exit at
Grottamare and proceed north on the main SS16 Adriatica road. Once
in Cupra Marittima and just before the bridge turn left toward
Ripatransone and then uphill for 2kms and at the top of the hill
bear to the left and follow the sign to the local Museum. You will
again find the Castello di Marano at the very top.
By rail
The nearest Main rail station is San Benedetto del Tronto and there
is a frequent bus service to Cupra Marittima from there.
In addition to the wonderful Italian beach on the Adriatic Sea, one
can hike, bike ride, and visit the many ancient and beautiful
hilltop villages. A few of these famous villages and museums and
artistic attractions are outlined below:
Cupramarittima: here the museum Piceno, the greatest existing museum
dedicated to the fantastic world of the shells can be visited. One
may see beautiful corals, cameos, and other precious shells.
Offida: by car is 20' from the Castle of Marano Offida
Ascoli Piceno: by car is 30'l In Ascoli Piceno .
Grottomare: by car is 10' from Marano
Ripratransone: is 15' from Marano
Montefiore: also 15' from the Marano
Fermo: approximately 30' from the Marano

Accommodation at the Castello di Marano consists of a beautiful
suite located within the castle and two houses situated directly
beside the castle, on the grounds. The houses each have four
bedrooms and each bedroom has its private bathroom. The rooms
are all tastefully decorated in the traditional Italian decor and
have French doors which open directly onto terraces and the fruit
and flowered gardens. The suite and the houses have fireplaces,
living rooms and kitchens.
